At the Restaurant: Ordering Food Like a Local

Master the art of ordering food in English restaurants with confidence.

Hello everyone! Welcome back to LienguaFlow. I'm James, and today we're dining out!

When you enter a restaurant, the first thing you'll hear is: "Good evening. Do you have a reservation?" If you don't, just say: "No, a table for two, please."

Now, the waiter will bring you a menu. "Here's the menu. Take your time." This means there's no rush.

When you're ready to order, say: "I'd like the grilled chicken, please." Or: "Could I have the pasta?" Using "I'd like" or "Could I have" is more polite than "I want."

If you have allergies, say: "I'm allergic to nuts" or "Does this contain dairy?"

For drinks: "I'll have a glass of water" or "Could I get a coffee, please?"

When you're finished: "Could I have the bill, please?" In American English, you might say "check" instead of "bill."

Remember: "It was delicious, thank you!" is always nice to say before leaving.

Practice ordering at your next restaurant visit!

استفاده از "I'd like" یا "Could I have" مؤدبانه‌تر از "I want" هست.
