Learn how to structure your two-minute talk in IELTS Speaking Part 2 with a simple formula.
Hello everyone, and welcome back to our IELTS series. I'm Dr. Rachel, and today we're focusing on Speaking Part 2, the long turn.
In Part 2, you receive a card with a topic and you must speak for one to two minutes. You have one minute to prepare.
This is my simple formula: First, describe. Second, tell a story. Third, give your opinion.
Let's practice with an example. The card says: "Describe a place you like to visit."
Describe: "I'd like to talk about a small mountain village called Rosewood. It's about two hours from my city, surrounded by forests and rivers."
Tell a story: "I first went there two years ago with my cousin. We rented a cabin, hiked all day, and watched the sunset from the hilltop. I still remember the silence and the fresh air."
Give your opinion: "For me, Rosewood is more than a beautiful place. It's where I recharge my mind and feel truly calm. That's why I visit it at least once a year."
Now look at the structure: describe covers the basic facts, the story adds details and natural language, and the opinion shows depth.
A key tip: don't try to memorise a full answer. Instead, memorise the structure and practise filling it with new topics.
Practise every day with topics like "describe a teacher," "a meal," or "a memorable trip." Soon, two minutes will feel easy. See you next time!

نظر: "برای من، رز وود چیزی فراتر از یک مکان زیبا است. جایی است که ذهنم را شارژ می‌کنم و واقعاً آرام می‌شوم. به همین دلیل حداقل سالی یک بار به آنجا می‌روم."
حالا به ساختار نگاه کنید: توصیف حقایق پایه را پوشش می‌دهد، داستان جزئیات و زبان طبیعی اضافه می‌کند و نظر، عمق نشان می‌دهد.
یک نکته کلیدی: سعی نکنید یک پاسخ کامل را حفظ کنید. به جای آن، ساختار را حفظ کنید و تمرین کنید آن را با موضوعات جدید پر کنید.
هر روز با موضوعاتی مثل "معلمی را توصیف کنید"، "یک غذا" یا "یک سفر خاطره‌انگیز" تمرین کنید. به زودی دو دقیقه آسان به نظر می‌رسد. تا قسمت بعد!
