Finland Introduces AI Tutors in All Public Schools Starting September

Graded English news article at B2 level.

Finland has announced that every public school in the country will have access to AI-powered tutoring systems beginning in September 2026, making it the first nation to implement artificial intelligence as a standard educational tool at the national level. The system, developed by Finnish education technology company Sanoma Learning, uses adaptive algorithms to personalize lessons for each student based on their learning pace and style. Teachers will retain control over curriculum content while the AI handles individual practice assignments, provides real-time feedback, and identifies students who need additional support. A pilot program conducted in Helsinki schools last year showed that students using the AI tutor improved their math scores by 22 percent on average. Education Minister Anna-Maja Henriksson said the program will cost approximately 45 million euros over three years, funded primarily through existing education budgets.
