Religion has been a fundamental part of human civilization for thousands of years, shaping cultures, laws, art, and personal identities across every continent. Hinduism is considered the oldest major religion, with roots stretching back over four thousand years in the Indian subcontinent. It encompasses a vast diversity of beliefs and practices, including the concepts of karma, dharma, and reincarnation. Unlike many other religions, Hinduism has no single founder and no unified set of scriptures.

Buddhism emerged in the sixth century BCE when Siddhartha Gautama, a prince from present-day Nepal, renounced his privileged life to seek enlightenment. After years of meditation, he attained Buddhahood and taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path as the way to end suffering. Today, Buddhism has over five hundred million followers worldwide.

Christianity, founded on the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth in the first century CE, is the world's largest religion with over two billion followers. Christians believe in one God, the divinity of Jesus Christ, and salvation through faith. The religion spread rapidly throughout the Roman Empire and eventually across the globe through missionary activity.

Islam, founded by the Prophet Muhammad in the seventh century CE in the Arabian Peninsula, is the second-largest religion with nearly two billion followers. Muslims believe in one God, follow the teachings of the Quran, and observe Five Pillars that guide their daily lives and worship.
